International cricket stars Kevin Pietersen, Shane Warne, Darren Gough and Shaun Udal gave the thumbs up to Sewa Day at a recent charity event.
They endorsed Sewa T-shirts for national co-ordinator Ravi Shah of Luton.
Sewa chairman Arup Gangully said: “It’s always great to get endorsements from sporting heroes.
“These folks are role models and if a thumbs up from a legend like Shane Warne can attract youth participation, it’s a result.
“After all, if we’re going to change the world for the better, we have to inculcate the spirit of giving in the next generation.”
Ravi added: “We would like more volunteers to participate in this wonderful concept by donating their time to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
“Putting a smile on someone’s face is simply priceless and is what community spirit is all about.”
Sewa (or service) is an Indian tradition of performing acts of kindness without expectation of reward. It has become a runaway international success.
This year’s Sewa Day on Sunday October 5 will celebrate the fifth anniversary of the event.
