Staff and students at Ferrars Junior School are determined that much loved and sadly missed teaching assistant Carol Julian will never be forgotten.
The popular mother-of-two, who worked at the school for 15 years, died of breast cancer last year.
The school held its second Race at our Place in her memory earlier this month.
Assistant headteacher Christelle Sharpley-Ellis said: “Carol’s husband Terry came to show his support.
“Some moments were really emotional – one was when a gust of wind blew a balloon up into the sky and another was seeing people read all the dedications tied to the fence.
“The day was just perfect and was enjoyed by all the children, parents, families and staff.
“We sold cakes, ice lollies, toys, knick knacks and had a sweet jar raffle and teddy tombola.
“Our target was £1,500 but we raised nearer to £2,000.” The money will go to Cancer Research UK.
Carol’s friend, fellow teaching assistant Fiona Vinall, said: “She never felt sorry for herself and fought so bravely.”
