A Stopsley mum who was jailed for a double stabbing has turned her life around, thanks to Reactiv8 – a social enterprise dedicated to uplifting young people.
Charlene Ellis, 27, took part in their recent Reach for the Stars programme and is now working as an instructor for a company which runs outdoor fitness classes in Memorial Park, Luton.
MFT Managing director Jon Reynolds – an ex army captain who also happens to be a partner in Reactiv8 – said: “She has now been employed for six weeks – the longest she’s stuck at anything.
“I think her story is really inspirational, especially for women involved in gangs. It highlights a way out.
“Charlene has all the attributes of an independent business person. She’s a grafter and that’s why I’m trusting her to manage one of my fitness venues.”
Jon is also keen to introduce Charlene to headteachers. He explained: “She has a unique way of telling it how it is. I think this would work well for the 12 to 14 year groups. It may even help pupils make the right decisions.”
