CHUMS - the charity that started out as a children’s bereavement service – is going from strength to strength. Chief executive Dawn Hewitt has announced two new services – a mentoring programme to help young people aged between five and 18 who are facing challenges, and one for young carers looking after someone who’s disabled, suffering from a chronic or serious illness, or with learning difficulties or mental health issues. Lord Lieutenant Helen Nellis (pictured above right with Dawn) was guest of honour at the launch event at Barnfield College and said how impressed she was by the devotion and dedication of CHUMS staff and volunteers. The charity, which became a social enterprise three years ago, now offers a variety of support covering neo-natal bereavement, trauma and emotional wellbeing.
