'˜Dell Farm is so special to us'

Children from the school have been visiting the facility for more than 20 years and it holds a special place in their hearts.

Year 5 formed an action group to make sure their feelings were known when a consultation was launched.

They enlisted the help of the entire school by talking to younger children about the great times they’d had at Dell Farm and encouraging all pupils to write letters and draw posters.

“Everyone should experience Dell Farm,” one youngster wrote. Another supporter said: “There are numerous benefits . . . like looking after the animals, being able to discover nature, having fun outdoors, building fires and dens and so much more.”

As a result of this and similar responses, the education centre for learning outside the classroom has been reprieved.

Active Luton will now run the facility and take over responsbility for its maintenance, something the council is no longer able to finance.

Luton mayor Cllr Dave Taylor visited the school to thank students for their support.
