Five top chefs at Barnfield for charity do

Sheraton Park Lane head pastry chef Sarah Hartnett demonstrates dessert for Barnfield College students

Barnfield College catering corps were abuzz with excitement this week when a quintet of the country’s most celebrated chefs came to the campus.

The five – Sheraton Park Lane executive chef Andrew Bennett, his head pasty chef Sarah Hartnett (pictured right), The Dorchester’s Henry Brosi, Paul Gayler from The Lanesborough and Kevin Clark from Luton Hoo – were there to share their culinary expertise for a charity dinner next month.

The gourmet event to mark the 21st anniversary of Keech Hospice Care is the brainchild of Andrew Bennett, himself a former Barnfield student.

He called in his illustrious colleagues to lend a hand, give the aspiring youngsters a taste of their experience and hopefully raise £25,000 for the charity that all five are keen to support.

Andrew said: “It’s important the students have a good time as well as learning skills such as organisation, presentation and plating up.”

John Shiebert, 18, of Stopsley is determined to be a top pasty chef and was delighted with Sarah’s dessert demonstration while Nadia Allen, also 18, said she was keen to follow in their footsteps and rise to the top of her profession.
