The £5 entry fee includes a guided tour and, in addition, one of the estate’s Victorian farm buildings.

> The five-acre, octagonal Luton Hoo Walled Garden was designed by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown for John Stuart, 3rd Earl of Bute, soon after he acquired the estate in 1763.

A spokesperson said: “We’re urgently looking for strong active people to help with heavy grass cutting, strimming and general garden work.”
