Meet two women on a mission – to raise awareness and as much money as possible for Luton’s Cancer Research UK Relay for Life which takes place next month at Stockwood Park Athletics Centre.
Limbury ladies Ruby Crowle and Pauline Robb, both in their 50s, are promoting the event with passion, enthusiasm. and energy.
Fashion designer Pauline, who ran the London marathon dessed as a frog, and beauty therapist Ruby have spent most of the year recruiting 46 teams of family, friends and colleagues.
Ruby said: “They will walk the track for 24 hours non-stop, signifying that ‘Cancer never sleeps.’
“Relay will bring them together to celebrate the lives of those surviving this dreadful disease and an opportunity to remember loved ones who are no longer with us.”
She added: “There’s a very poignant Candle of Hope ceremony at dusk on Saturday, September 7.”
A band of survivors will take part in the opening lap of honour accompanied by local VIPs, including Luton North MP Kelvin Hopkins.
