Round Green businesswoman Donna Hannan has organised a petition to help revitalise a High Town development project.

The event planner is spearheading a protest against the council’s rejection in August of plans by Dallow Development Trust to turn the former Comau factory site in Midland Road into a cricketing centre of excellence.

The petition – containing more than 2,000 signatures and accompanied by 50 letters of support from local residents and businesses, including Luton entrepreneur Mohammed Nadeem, will be presented to the council today (November 28).

Project consultant Martin Shaw said: “We’re not duplicaticating other facilities, we will be adding to them. The plans have been revamped and will be resubmitted.

“We carried out extensive research and quickly realised there was a huge demand for indoor cricket nets for all ages and both sexes.

“Local cricket teams and the English Cricket Board have already offered their support, as have other sporting and voluntary organisations.”
