Record crowds turned out in the spring sunshine to celebrate St Patrick’s Day in Luton and enjoy Irish culture at its most colourful.
Luton Irish Forum invited all the town’s multi-national communities to join in the festivities and proclaimed the event a resounding success.
LIF spokesman Tom Scanlon said: “It was very pleasing to see so many different communities volunteering, participating and sampling the best of Irish dance, music and drama.
“From very modest beginnings 15 years ago, the Luton St Patrick’s Festival Parade and associated entertainment now rivals London and New York for the level of participation of diverse groups.
“I’d like to thank our sponsors, hardworking volunteers and St Patrick’s commitee who have been planning the festival since July last year.
“They make this event special for Luton and without their commitment this would not be possible.”
