Supermarket searching for a charity partner

Sainsbury's Local Charity of the Year scheme is back and the Bury Park, Luton store is looking for a new charity to support from the local area.

Over the next couple of months, the supermarket will make a shortlist of charities for customers to vote for. The winning charity will then receive a year of support from the store, which includes fundraising and awareness. Customers can vote between June 13-26 in stores and online.

The Local Charity of the Year scheme has raised over £9m in the last seven years and has helped thousands of charities across the UK.

Mark Gray, store manager of Sainsbury’s Bury Park, said: “There are so many fantastic charities in the local area who do brilliant work in our community.

“We’d love to hear from charities we haven’t supported before.”

If you would like to apply, please register your interest at the customer service desk at the branch in Dunstable Road to be considered.

The nominations close on May 9. All charities must be registered to the UK Charity Commission.
