You’ve heard of the A-Team. Now meet the Green Team, keen teens who have been hard at work in the great outdoors in Central Beds.
Eight young people, aged 16-19, tackled practical projects in a Green Team training programme, run in partnership with charity Groundwork.
Projects included improving gardens at sheltered housing units Red House Court, Houghton Regis, and Manor Court, Caddington, tasks for schools, clearance work for Houghton Regis Town Council, and grounds maintenance at Townsend Day Centre, Houghton.
On Tuesday, celebrations at Red House Court marked their success.
Richard Gumble, Jordan Bell, Kieran Stock, Liam Blake, Mitchel McEwan, Joe McGartland, Josh Youlden and Daniel Lay were Groundwork Luton and Bedfordshire’s fifth Green Team. Their rewards included a City & Guilds qualification and work experience.
Chris Houghton, supervisor, said: “I’m confident they will be successful in using the skills they’ve learnt to progress in their chosen path.”
Funding came from Central Beds Council and Oaklands College, Herts.
