Luton tradesmen really are aiming for a chance to meet world darts champ Eric Bristow as they step up to the oche in a challenging contest.
Builders merchant Gibbs & Dandy, in Dallow Road, is searching for Luton’s Best Darting Tradesman.
The team is running a nine-dart qualifying challenge over three weeks, with the best 16 scorers going on to take part in a knockout tournament.
Then the Luton winner will compete with top scorers from other branches in the national final.
The local challenge is under way and runs through to November 8, and the Luton winner will be given a signed dartboard and set of darts from Eric Bristow, and two tickets to a local Professional Darts Corporation event.
Darts supremo Eric, nicknamed the Crafty Cockney, is a ‘brand ambassador’ for the firm and will referee the final.
Eric said: “We have had plumbers winning the world title before so who knows what we may discover. The main thing though is that this tournament should provide some great fun and competition between tradesmen – some bragging rights for the pub is as good as any title!”
