A Luton man has been arrested on suspicion of being a member of a proscribed terrorist organisation.

The 30-year-old, of Claremont Road, was detained by officers from the Met’s counter-terrorism command this afternoon.

He is being held at a central London police station while officers continue to search his home.

A Met spokesperson told the Luton News: “On November 26 officers from the Met’s counter-terrorism command SO15 attended an address in Luton and conducted a search under section five of the Terrorism Act 2000.

“A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being a member of a proscribed organisation contrary to section 11 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

“He has been taken to a central London police station.

“The arrest was made under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984.”
