EXCLUSIVE: Luton Town striker Ricky Miller arrested over alleged taxi driver assault

Luton Town striker Ricky Miller has been arrested for allegedly headbutting a taxi driver in the early hours of this morning.

Mr Miller, 26, is currently in police custody following the assault, said to have taken place at around 4am.

The forward was allegedly picked up from Pink Punters in Milton Keynes with another man and booked the taxi to Dunstable.

The journey lasted as far as Hockliffe, where the alleged assault is said to have occurred.

Beds Police were called and Mr Miller was arrested at the scene.

Mr Miller had been celebrating the End of Season Awards with other players at Luton Town Football Club earlier on Sunday.

A spokesman for Beds Police said: “A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault after an incident in Hockcliffe in the early hours of this morning (27 April).

“The man is currently in custody at Luton police station for questioning.”

Mr Miller’s club issued the following statement: “Luton Town Football Club can confirm that Ricky Miller has been arrested following an alleged incident on Sunday evening.

“Subsequently, Ricky has been suspended by the Club pending a police enquiry. Luton Town FC takes any allegation against a player or member of staff very seriously.

“An internal investigation is also underway and any player guilty of misconduct will be disciplined appropriately.

“The Club is unable to comment further at this stage.”
