Four men held on terrorism charges after arrests in Luton

Four men arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences in Luton on Wednesday remain in police custody.

All four men, who are in their 30s, were arrested on suspicion of the commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism.

The arrests were carried out in a joint operation between the Metropolitan Police Service’s Counter Terrorism Command (SO15) and the Eastern Counter Terrorism and Intelligence Unit (ECTIU).

Warrants of further detention until Wednesday (9 December) were issued by Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (3 December).

Searches of five properties in Luton and a number of vehicles are now complete, the search of two properties continues.

The activity is part of ongoing proactive investigation into individuals in the Luton area. It is not connected to the recent Paris attacks.
