A Luton man has pleaded guilty to downloading a substantial haul of child pornography.

Mark Andrew Martin, 42, was caught with the collection after police officers conducted a search warrant at his home in February.

A computer, an SD card and a hard drive were seized in the raid.

When interviewed by police Martin, who currently resides on Coverdale, told officers that they would not find any indecent images of children.

However 26,023 category C still and moving images of children were recovered.

Officers also found 113 category B images and 44 category A pictures.

Martin admitted five child porn charges at Luton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday,

The court heard that officers found ‘relevant search terms’ for the material on Martin’s computer.

The 42-year-old denied that he had any sexual interest in children.

Magistrates referred the case to Luton Crown Court for sentencing on December 4.

Martin was granted bail with stringent conditions.
