Man beaten and robbed of phone in Wardown Park

A man was beaten and robbed of his mobile phone in a Luton park on Monday evening.

The victim was sitting on a bench in Wardown Park at 8.45pm on September 7 when he was set upon by two men who attacked him and demanded he hand over his mobile phone.

The offenders took the phone before making off towards New Bedford Road. The victim was treated at hospital for his injuries.

Both offenders are described as Asian, between 17 and 21, slim with black hair. One was said to be around 5’7’’ with the other 5’11’’.

Detective Constable Ann Ward, investigating, said: “This was a nasty incident in which the victim suffered some quite serious injuries.

“Such violence will not be tolerated and I would urge anyone with any information as to who is responsible to call police.”
