Police are investigating after a man was threatened with a knife and robbed in broad daylight in Luton.

Three friends were walking along Crawley Green Road at around 5pm last Thursday (24 March), when they were approached by two men close to the cemetery.

One of the men threatened the victims with a knife and demanded that the group hand over their mobile phones.

They then walked back down Crawley Green Road and out of sight.

The first man is described as aged between 16 and 18 years old, around 5’11” tall, of slim build and with a black moustache.

He wore a grey coat with red lining.

The second man is described as black, around 6’5” tall and of slender build.

He was clean shaven with short dark hair and was wearing black trainers, a black puffa jacket, black Adidas tracksuit bottoms and a dark coloured baseball cap.

Detective constable Steve Francis, investigating, said: “Crawley Green Road is particularly busy, and the incident took place next to the road in broad daylight.

“I am confident that people may have seen something that may help our investigations; if anyone has any information about who may be responsible, it’s vital they come forward.

“We believe a man pushing a bicycle walked past the group as they were being robbed, and I would encourage him to come forward with any information.”

Anyone with any information can call DC Francis on 101, or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
