Police look for Good Samaritan ‘Donald’ following bag snatch

Police are searching for a Good Samaritan who helped return a handbag to a robbery victim on October 1.

Between 6.30pm and 6.55pm in People’s Park, Havelock Road, a 48-year-old woman was pushed to the floor by two offenders and her handbag was snatched from her.

A member of the public chased the offenders and managed to retrieve the handbag and officers would like to trace this man as her could help identify the offenders.

Detective Constable David Elias, investigating, said: “We think the Good Samaritan is called Donald and he was kind enough to help the victim who was extremely shocked by what had happened to her.

“Donald may have had a good look at the offenders and may be able to help us trace those responsible.

“I would urge him to contact the police and help us with this investigation.”
