Police are looking for a man who approached a child near a school in Luton.

The incident occurred near the gates of Downside Primary School in Chaul End Lane, between 3.30pm and 4pm on Tuesday.

The man, who is described as black, bald, of average height and wearing casual clothing, was not known to the boy, but asked him to follow him.

When the child said he would find a teacher, the man walked away.

Detective Constable Gail Cotton said: “I would like to speak to the man described, or anyone who was in the area at this time and believes they may have seen the man or witnessed this conversation.

“This incident will no doubt be worrying to parents of young children, but we would like to reassure the community that we are thoroughly investigating this suspicious behaviour and are committed to protecting people and keeping Bedfordshire safe.”

Call DC Cotton on 101 with information, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
