Taxi driver stabbed in the back in Luton

Police are appealing for witnesses after a taxi driver was stabbed in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Luton.

The man was parked in his cab near a cash point in Calverton Road when he was approached by two men riding push bikes just after midnight.

The men attempted to steal money from the driver before stabbing him in the back with a knife. The man attended hospital shortly afterwards where fortunately his injuries were deemed to be non-life-threatening.

Det Con Benjamin Stone, investigating, said: “This was a nasty attack on an innocent individual by two violent opportunists. I’m appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who saw two black men on bikes in the vicinity of Calverton Road either prior to or after the incident to contact us.”
