UPDATE: 'Level of violence high' in attack on woman

Investigators looking into the death of a woman believed to have been murdered in Luton say 'the level of violence was high'.

Although yet to be formally identified, the woman – who was found dead at Overstone Road at 11.30pm on Monday – has been named locally as Saima Khan.

Her family are understood to have come to the UK from Holland around seven years ago.

DCI Adam Gallop appealed for witnesses, particularly from the local Muslim community, to come forward if they have an information.

Speculation that this was a “botched burglary has not been confirmed by police.
