Discover striking wildlife images
Young Pine Marten by Terry Whittaker
Stunning photographs showing fascinating wildlife from the British Isles and around the world is now on display at Stockwood Discovery Centre.
The British Wildlife Photographer of the Year touring exhibition is at the centre until March 30, and will give visitors the chance to get up close to the images from the 2012 competition.
It includes 90 winning and commended images.
The awards had 12 separate categories covering everything from marine life and animal behaviour to creepy crawlies and urban wildlife; and the photographs beautifully reveal the unseen splendour and surprising diversity of Britain’s wildlife. There were also two special junior categories to encourage young people to connect with nature through photography.
Chair of the judging panel, Stephen Moss, said: “British wildlife photography is now better than ever, with some fabulous images captured by some of our greatest photographers gracing this exhibition”.
Entry to the exhibition, and the centre is free. Stockwood Discovery Centre is open from Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm and from 11am to 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
