Dyalight robbers take £10,000-worth of jewellery

More than 40 items taken

Jewellery worth 10,000 was taken during a daylight robbery in Bedford this week.

The break-in took place at a house in Clapham Road in Bedford sometime between 11am and 8.15pm on Tuesday, June 30.

More than 40 items were stolen, some of them engraved with the owner's name and including the initials J and M.

Detectives hope that neighbours or passers-by may have seen the thieves.

Det Con James Panter said: "This burglary happened in broad daylight so it is quite possible members of the public saw the offenders, even if they did not realise the significance of it at the time.

"I would ask anyone who was in the Clapham Road area on Tuesday to contact the police if they saw anyone acting suspiciously.

"The victim and her family are deeply saddened by the theft of this jewellery which holds huge sentimental value."

Anyone with information can call Det Con James Panter in confidence, on 01234 275291, text 07786 200011, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

Some of the pieces are described as follows:

A gold Celtic-style pin broach with pierced three-leaf clover terminal.

A gold ring with a black oval opal, with green and blue flecks in it, flanked by two round diamonds.

A pair of brass opera glasses with removable handle, inlaid with panels of mother of pearl and mother of pearl eyepiece.

A silver pendant, lozenge shape with a woman's name beginning with 'J' engraved on it.

A swimming medal with the name 'Jxxx Dxxx' engraved on it.
