Ferrars Junior pupils took part in a ten minute read on Friday, October 16, to promote literacy in Luton.

All year groups and staff took part in the ten minute read at 9am to encourage people to pick up a book and read.

Shali White, Literacy leader, said: “The ten minute read was enjoyed so much by the staff and children, they have requested to continue this initiative.

“Each child and member of staff brought in their own book of choice and four members of staff read extracts of their favourite books.

“As a school we really enjoyed the ten minutes quiet reading time and will now try to continue this as a weekly assembly, where we either reflect on a specific book or start a book to the whole school in anticipation that it grabs the listeners attention so that they want to read it themselves.”
