St Martin de Porres came third in a Sustrans Big Pedal competition

St Martin de Porres Primary School pupils dressed up as superheroes to celebrate coming third in Luton in the Big Pedal competition organised by travel charity Sustrans.

The contest – held to encourage journeys on two wheels – was won by Wigmore Primary School with Warden Hills Junior School in second place.

More than 350 students and staff at St Martin de Porres donned home-made costumes to mark their success while several posed for a photograph with super head John Carroll.

Sustrans schools officer Richard Noon said: “Last year Luton and Dunstable school recorded more than 35,000 journeys – the second highest in the country, excluding London.”
He added: “Children and parents support the competition because the kids love it and it’s good for their health and wellbeing.”
