A popular children’s author visited Lealands High School in Luton to inspire and motivate Year 8 students with their writing.

Christopher Edge – creator of Twelve Minutes to Midnight, Shadows of the Silver Screen and The Black Crow Conspiracy – was at Lealands as part of Literacy Week and World Book Day.

He revealed how he gets inspiration for his characters from everything around him, including photographs, real life stories, newspapers and even just daydreaming.

Budding author Henry Bloom said: “I found the session really helpful.

“Christopher gave us lots of pointers on how to start a story by grabbing the reader’s attention straight away so they don’t want to put the book down.”

Year 10 pupils Rudo Makoni and Naa Ntodi did a recorded interview with the writer for an upcoming BBC School Report project.
