Children were transported to a rainforest, flown on a magic carpet and flung into space during a very special lesson at Someries Infant School on Monday.
The pupils were celebrating the launch of the new Immersive Learning Centre, the first of its kind in Luton, which uses technology to change the environment at the touch of a button and allows pupils to interact with projections to increase their understanding and learning.
Headteacher Jenny Meara said: “We are absolutely delighted with our Immersive Learning Centre. The principal aim of this facility is to develop the speaking, listening and creative writing skills of our children. The children show enthusiasm, they’re buzzing, they are talking with each other, they do truly feel that they are in different environments and it is a different conversation we have in the centre from what we would have in the classroom. They remember more of what they have learnt because they are actually experiencing it.”
