Young charity champions count the cash

Two budding young businesswomen from Pirton Hill Primary put on a charity event at the school and raised a whopping £1,000 for Cancer Research UK Relay for Life.

Year 6 headgirl Jessica Gandhi and Hannah Janman, both 11, said they were thrilled to have made such a stash of cash, particularly as their initial target was a much more modest £100.

Now the dynamic duo will turn their attention to their studies rather than raising money.

Class teacher and community events leader Alex Power said: “It’s fantastic that they organised the whole thing themselves.”

Deputy head Colin Pickard added: “We’re very proud of what they’ve achieved.”
