Billy Joel is notoriously reticent about appearing live.
So step forward Woking-born Elio Pace, 46.
The singer/songwriter and talented piano player has been invited to fill the famous artist’s shoes by performing The Billy Joel Songbook. And he’s coming to Dunstable’s Grove Theatre on Sunday, October 19.
In September Elio fronted two very special reunion concerts with Joel’s original 1971-72 touring band. They took place in New York and Philadelphia and went down so well he was invited to perform there again this month with another gig at the Bitter End in Greenwich Village in November.
In March he embarked on the first-ever Billy Joel UK tour, giving the star’s many fans a fantastic opportunity to hear songs from the Joel back catalogue performed live by a six -piece band.
Elio started playing the piano at the tender age of four and has thrilled audiences around the world for the past 25 years with his unique blend of pop, R&B, jazz and rock ‘n’ roll.
There have been many magical moment along the way as he performed alongside a glittering array of music legends such as Queen’s Brian May, Katie Melua, Debbie Reynolds, Don Mclean, Glen Campbell and Gilbert O’Sullivan.
He was also invited to play at the 30th birthday party of Hollywood actress Sandra Bullock where they sang a duet.
He appeared as featured artist on BBC Radio 2’s Weekend Wogan and his current 70 date UK and Ireland tour performing The Billy Joel Songbook fulfills a life-long ambition.
