Luton shop assistant Lucia Poliovkova is passionate about living a healthy, sustainable lifestyle and is keen to spread the message.
Now the Slovenian interior design graduate will be able to do just that – with a little help from the 02 Think Big project.
Lucia, who lives in High Town, said: “I had hoped to get a job in something to do with the environment.
“But that didn’t happen so I decided to use my skills in a similar field.”
The talented 25-year-old intends putting her £2,500 grant into a series of presentations at the The Mall, the University of Bedfordshire and Luton Airport, where she works for Marks & Spencer.
She hopes her proposed public art installations will encourage people to think about what they throw away.
Lucia has already aired her ideas at the Hat Factory, with an upcycled artwork exhibition also funded by 02.
She said: “People want more and more stuff, bigger and better phones and TVs. They don’t appreciate the value of every day things, that working in the garden, doing community stuff and being spiritually aware makes them feel better.”
