Galway Girl Sharon Shannon (above) was one of many stars taking part in Luton’s first Fleadh Fiesta at Lewsey Park on Sunday.
The accomplished accordion player – who’s also adept with the fiddle, tin whistle and melodeon – had the crowds roaring for more, singing traditional Irish songs from her best-selling album.

International artist and local boy Paul Young, accompanied by his band Los Pacaminos, also provided first class foot-stomping entertainment.
Organiser Declan Duggan said: “I don’t think we could have topped it – it was one of the most successful festivals Luton has ever seen. And someone up there must like us – the weather was also absolutely brilliant.”
He added: “We’re in talks about turning the Fleadh Fiesta into an annual event on the town’s calendar.”
