There’s a special exhibition at Luton Central Library celebrating Black History Month.

Entitled The Roots of Our Tree: Understanding Community Development in Bury Park, it features a community history film made by young people from a trio of establishments – the Centre for Youth Community and Development (CYCD) youth clubs, Luton Sixth Form College and the University of Bedfordshire.

Two heritage trees created by Little Stars Nursery and Beech Hill and Denbigh Primary Schools are also on show.

The exhibition is the culmination of a year’s work celebrating both the Bengali contribution to community development in Bury Park while acknowledging the growing diversity of the area and its resulting contribution to the vibrancy.

At last week’s launch, the children’s library hosted storytelling in different languages. It closes on November 1.
