A team of 38 mums, daughters, friends and colleagues are coming together to stop cancer in its tracks.
The group – ranging in age from seven to 70 – are taking part in Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life in Luton on Sunday, June 22.
They’ll be doing it in memory of Kath Barns, who was chief invigilator with Luton Adult Learning Services, where most of them work.
She was diagnosed with lung cancer and passed away six months later, before she could celebrate her 70th birthday.
Team leader Patricia Doherty said: “Kath was a lovely lady, very determined and a huge inspiration.
“She was keen to support research and bravely got involved in cancer treatment trials in order to help other people affected by the disease.”
She added: “By taking part in Race for Life we’ll be honouring her memory as well as raising money for vital research. It will be lovely to have so much support on the day.”
