Skydive raises hundreds for charity

A 23-year-old jumped 10,000ft out of a plane to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Bianca Starkey, of Ambleside, took on the skydive challenge to raise money for the charity that is close to her heart, her grandma was diagnosed with dementia in April.

She said: “The skydive was literally the most insane feeling. It feels great knowing I have raised money for such a good cause, especially as my grandma was recently diagnosed with dementia.”

Bianca’s family were at the skydive centre to support her.

Her mum, Linda Starkey, said: “It was amazing to watch her, she was very calm and excited at the same time.

“For Grant and I, our stomachs churned a bit at the thought of her going up there but we were all very proud.

“Bianca has a heart of gold and is very close to her nanny.”

The national charity provides informaton and support for people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, it also funds medical research.
