The biggest and most magical event on the children’s book calendar – The Hoo’s Kids Book Fest – is just two weeks’ away.

Hghlights include 2014 World Book Day illustrator Alex T Smith and writer Caryl Hart telling silly stories and drawing live from their joint series Foxy Tales.

In addition Angie Sage will be talking about the Araminta Spook series, Clara Vulliamy will be reading and drawing from Dixie O’Day in The Fast Lane and there will be a joint appearance by Robert Muchamore – internationally best-selling author of Cherub – and Sophie McKenzie, who penned the hugley popular Missing sequence.

Visitors can also take part in a Beast Quest Tournament, learn how to draw Barry Loser and his team mates with Jim Smith, join story telling sessions with the Roald Dahl Museum crew or create their own comic in a workshop with teen sensation Zoom Rockman.

The University of Bedfordshire School of Art and Design sponsored a competition to design a poster, flyer and advert for the event. It was won by third year illustration student Mengistu Emin.

Author Jon Mayhew described the Book Fest as a “wonderful, unforgettable day” and said it had become the UK’s principle children’s book festival.
