St John Ambulance is opening a new Badger sett in Luton – and it’s already received the backing of Bedfordshire Lord Lieutenant Helen Nellis.

The charity is looking to recruit volunteer youth leaders to help train the next generation of first aiders and there are opportunities to enrol children aged between seven and 10 in the new sett.

This opens next month and will have the capacity for 15 Badgers – provided three youth leaders can be recruited. It will be based at The Hat Factory.

The Lord Lieutenant said St John Ambulance was one of the country’s national treasures. She added: “I would encourage adult helpers to support our youngsters and help establish this new and exciting sett.”

Adult youth leader volunteers must pass an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check before being accepted.
