Awards for two Luton buildings
TWO new Luton buildings have won four out of five award categories in the Herts & Beds Constructing Excellence Awards.
Challney High School for Girls won the top award for Project of the Year, the Legacy Award for Sustainability and the Innovation award.
The new school was designed by Architects Co Partnership and built by Wates Construction.
Judges from Constructing Excellence were highly impressed by the host of energy saving features in the school and by how these are being used to provide learning opportunities for pupils.
Meanwhile, Luton Sixth Form College, which was managed by Baqus Group, designed by the KSS Group and built by Vinci Construction, won the Award for Integration and Collaborative Working, as well as being awarded a runner-up prize in the Innovation category.
Joe Austin, chairman of Constructing Excellence said: “These projects are testament to the skills of the designers, contractors, skilled professionals and apprentices who are involved in these flagship projects, and are contributing the Luton’s building industry.
Well done to everyone involved.”
