Brave shopkeeper tries to tackle gunman
...but robbers escape with £400
A brave shopkeeper tried to singlehandedly tackle three robbers brandishing a handgun when they burst into his Luton store demanding money.
Have-a-go hero Mohammad Baksh was preparing to lock up his Maksud store in Strathmore Avenue at around 10.30pm on Friday, October 23, when a man pointed a gun at him and stole takings from the till.
Another man also threatened the victim while a third man kept watch at the door.
But rather than go down without a fight, the 43-year-old decided to try to stop the trio from escaping by grabbing the gunman.
"I was shouting help but nobody came," he said. "I managed to hold him for about three minutes."
After a scuffle, all three robbers left the scene with 400 and ran towards Kingsland Road with Mr Baksh running behind.
Officers have taken CCTV footage from the shop to study at the police station.
Mr Baksh was left shocked and suffering a minor head injury and bruising.
Det Con Amy Kelly, investigating, described the trio as three black men aged 20 to 25, of slim to medium build.
Two were wearing dark clothing with hooded tops and the third was wearing a blue, white and cream Adidas hooded top.
