Car park security is ‘incompetent’
AN angry air traveller has been left counting the cost of choosing to park his BMW in one of Luton Airport’s ‘secure’ car parks after returning from a trip abroad to discover that all four of his vehicle’s wheels had been stolen.
Phillip Godding returned from a two-day business trip to France earlier this month to find his grey BMW 3 Series propped up on bricks in the Airport’s Mid Term Car Park on Airport Way despite having paid £40 to ensure that his motor was safe and secure.
Mr Godding, a regular passenger from Luton Airport, has vowed never to use parking there again.
He told the Luton News: “It was a complete surprise, you choose the car park because it is advertised as secure and has a security office only within sight, it’s why you accept the additional higher charges.
“The most frustrating part of this is the lack of evidence, no CCTV and security staff having seen nothing. You hear of theft from cars and of cars themselves but not to have seen the theft or have any evidence, even though this was believed to have taken place in broad daylight, is unbelievable and at best incompetent.”
Luton Airport car parking is contracted out to services company APCOA. But despite the firm offering “innovative, reliable and secure solutions, supported by highly trained personnel and unique technology” according to its website, Mr Godding has lost his ‘no claims’ insurance discount following the incident and he says the company were unable to provide any CCTV or further information to help any subsequent police investigation.
