Charity staff pledge to make a difference
LAMP team are swapping their skills
Staff at a Luton homeless charity have been practising what they preach and sharing their skills to mark Poverty Action Week.
LAMP, the Luton Accommodation and Move-on Project, wants people in Luton to think more about sharing what they have, to help bridge the gap between rich and poor.
In the LAMP office a 'pledge board' has been set up, with staff bidding in a silent auction to take advantage of the items on offer. These include everything from making tea for an entire week to an hour's ironing and the opportunity to shadow a London solicitor for the day.
Fundraiser Karen Rabjohn said: "The pledges are all fun and bidding has caused a real buzz in the office. It has boosted morale and is proving to be a great bonding exercise. There is a more serious side to it as well as the gap between the 'well off' and the 'less well off' is growing in our own town."
