More than 90 awards were handed out to hard-working students during Ashcroft High School's awards evening last Thursday.
The school hall brimmed with proud parents as the youngsters picked up their prizes and celebrated their achievements.
Former Olympic, British, European and world medal winner Greg Whyte, himself a former Ashcroft pupil, presented prizes and spoke to students about achieving the best.
Several Ashcroft students gave performances, with Mathew Hall and Adam Deacon playing piano, Chloe Moxom singing and Hannah Bennett on the saxophone, and a poetry reading by Tomas Reilly.
The main award winners were April Hills, who received the best GCSE results in 2009, for Academic Achievement, Ben Woods for Achievement in the Face of Adversity, Rhys Perkins for Perseverance in the Face of Adversity, Hannah Bennett for Creative Achievement, Casey Philip and Cordell Sutherland for Service to the Community, Alex Hunt for Service to the School, Amanda Summers and Amy Gaitely for Attendance, and Maahwish Mirza and Matthew Harriott who both received the Headteacher's Award.
Awards for Outstanding Contribution to School Sport went to Amy Gaitely, Robbie Maclachlan, Sophie Watson and Rhys Watt.
