Cheeky street thief bemoans his luck
A BRAZEN street robber had the cheek to bemoan his lack of loot after threatening a terrified teenage girl as she walked to work in Luton.
The 19-year-old victim was walking along Latimer Road shortly after 3am on Tuesday when she was approached by a man just outside the Mother Red Cap pub.
The man was holding his hands behind his back and said: “Give me your money as I have a knife.”
The frightened victim handed over all the money she had which was only sixty pence prompting the offender to say ‘you must have more than that’ before asking the victim about her bank balance and eventually stealing her mobile phone.
Investigating officer Det Con Surfraz Hussain, of the South Beds Robbery Team, said: “The victim was left shocked by what had happened and the offender had the cheek to exclaim - ‘I don’t know why I bother coming around here, people don’t have nothing’ as he walked away from the scene.”
The robber is described as a mixed race man around the age of 28, who was stocky/well built and wearing a grey hoodie. He is said to have spoken with a local accent.
Anyone with information relating to this incident should call Det Con Hussain on 01582 473330, Beds Police on 101, send a text to 07786 200011, or contact Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
