Councils join forces to help children up for adoption

Events mark National Adoption Week

Four local councils are working together to provide information about adoption to mark National Adoption Week from November 9 to 15.

Central Bedfordshire Council, Bedford Borough Council, Luton Borough Council and Milton Keynes Council have joined forces to help children who need an adoptive family.

The councils will be holding events to explain what adoption involves and the support that they can offer.

Adoption teams will be at Luton Central Library from 10am until 4pm on Friday, November 6, and the Hat Factory in Bute Street from 5pm until 7pm on Tuesday, November 10.

National Adoption Week encourages more people to come forward to adopt the children who wait the longest - youngsters with complex needs and disabilities, brothers and sisters, ethnic minority children and older children.

For more information about adoption call 0800 218 2002, between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

On Monday, November 9, and Thursday, November 12, lines are open from 9am-9pm.
