Cyclist hurt after collision with white van

A CYCLIST was left with head injuries after being knocked off his bike by a van in Luton.

The incident happened shortly before midday on Wednesday in Stuart Street close to the junction with Cardiff Road.

The 20-year-old cyclist was passing a stationary white long wheel base van as it waited at the traffic lights when it is believed that a passenger in the van opened the door causing the cyclist to fall to the ground.

The cyclist was taken to the Luton & Dunstable Hospital for treatment to a head wound but the driver of the van had left the scene before the police arrived.
