Luton South MP Gavin Shuker has announced he and his wife Lucie are expecting their first child.
The Labour MP, 31, broke the news on his Twitter feed, posting the image from their 12-week ultrasound scan at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital, just ahead of the announcement by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge that they too had a baby on the way.
He told the Luton News: “Someone said it was a bad day to bury good news, which I thought was rather funny.
“Lucie is doing really well. We thought we would want to have a family around about this time, so we’re really fortunate that we’re able to.”
The couple are going to leave the sex of the baby, which will be born at the L&D, as a surprise.
“I just hope it doesn’t have my hair,” Mr Shuker added.
