Did you see double glazing robbery?
DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses to a robbery at Safestyle UK in Laporte Way yesterday (January 26).
A group of men entered the industrial unit in Titan Court, Luton at about 9pm and threatened staff with what they believed to be a gun.
The employees were forced to lie on the floor while the men took cash and mobiles from their pockets and cash from the safe.
Det Con Phillip Raikes said: “This was a shocking experience for the two male employees who believed they would be harmed should they not do as the offenders demanded.
“We believe a five door dark vehicle was used by the offenders to leave the area and I urge anyone who saw this vehicle or the group of men in the area prior to or after the incident to come forward and speak to the police.”
One offender was described as a black man, 5’10”, medium build and approximately 30 years old. He was wearing a black coat, black flat cap and had wrinkles round his eyes.
The second offender was a white man, 5’8”, 20-30 years old, with a chubby build and round belly. He was wearing grey jogging bottoms and had stubble.
Two of the other offenders were black, one wore a balaclava with large holes over the eyes.

Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 04:56 PMI would like it to be known that as the manager of the Luton branch of Safestyle UK, that as this is the second incident of this nature within three years, that several procedural and security changes have been implemented with immediate effect. There is no cash held in branch and employees are to carry no valuables other than loose change. We have upgraded doors and locks and installed high security door to split the two floors. In addition to this there is 24 hour CCTV with a direct feed to head office constantly monitoring the office. I would like to thank the police for the way they handled the incident, from the very speedy response, to the manner in which they controlled the crime scene and looked after the staff involved. Andrew Walker.
