Disney delight for our brave Shamiam
Shamiam and family meet Mickey and Minnie Mouse at the Disney store
Christmas magic came early for sassy Luton burns survivor Shamiam Arif when she and her family were invited to an exclusive party at Disney’s showcase store in London’s Oxford Street.
The Foxdell Junior pupil, her brother Shakaib, sister Shamita and cousin Ayesha Hussain met Mickey and Minnie Mouse during their VIP morning visit.
The quartet were given vouchers and cuddly toys and spent the day dressed as cartoon characters – the girls in Cinderella dresses and Shakaib as Spider-Man.
Shamiam was bubbling with enthusiasm about their adventure and said the best bit was “looking round the store deciding what to buy with my vouchers.”
The 10-year-old, who suffered severe burns when a candle fell into her cot when she was a baby, will have major surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital next year to insert a titanium plate in her head.
Disney is giving 400 soft toys to the hospital for Christmas.
> The festive fun will continue for Shamiam next month when she will be guest of honour at Luton Library Theatre’s production of Rapunzel.
