Dog walker recovering after stabbing in Luton street
The scene in Icknield Way after Sunday's incident
A 24-year-old dog walker is recovering in hospital after he was stabbed in the chest in an apparent street row yesterday afternoon (Sunday).
Police sealed off part of Icknield Way between Catsbrook Road and Homerton Road outside St Augustines Church following the incident shortly before 5pm.
It is believed the victim got involved in an argument between four other people as he walked his dog.
He was taken to the Luton & Dunstable Hospital for treatment to a small stab wound to his chest and is now recovering.
Officers searched the area yesterday afternoon and were assisted by the force helicopter.
A resident of nearby St Olam’s Close, who did not wish to be named, said that she heard ‘loud shouting’ before police arrived on the scene.
Officers are completing house to house enquiries today and Detective Sergeant Louisa Glynn, leading the investigation, is keen to trace anyone who saw the incident.
She said: “Luckily this man was not seriously injured and officers are doing all they can to track down those responsible.
“I would appeal to anyone who saw this incident or anyone who can help piece together why these men were arguing to contact the police.
“Anyone with information can speak to the police in complete confidence and I would reassure witnesses that whatever information they give may be kept confidential.”
Anyone with information can contact Det Sgt Glynn, in confidence, on 01582 473302, or Bedfordshire Police on 101, or text information to 07786 200011.
Alternatively you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
